I use minnows when it gets cold. We just went from -15 to +30 degrees in a couple days. Prime ice fishing weather. Also what was that all green baitcaster you were using?
Awesome Captain Mikey. I tried my techniques like normal the other day and nothing. Then I used a lipless crank bait and a light chatter bait like before and i got bored and started reeling in slower then BAM. Beautiful 4 pounder.
Hey Capt. Mikey, 1st off I freaking love your channe, I live in Flagler County which is more north in Florida then central about 30 minutes north of Daytona Beach. Anyways I follow a lot of fishing guys on here mainly the Googan squad guys in texas. But your the first Florida fisherman who I feel I can legit relate to and who shows me anything that will help me on these Florida waters. So THANK YOU! 2nd which part of north Florida are you in exactly. 3rd and lastly, would it be possible to link up with you and go fishing together?! Please reply if you have the time to read all this. I'm sorry it so long but after this video and everything you said about all these "pros" and how they're saying you should be fishing right now, it proves your the best YouTube fishing channel for me! Because I myself have been trying all those techniques that they say is the only ways to fish and have gotten nothing but skunks. So tomorrow Monday the 8th I'm going to be going to try your methods. Thank you again capt. Mikey! Greatly hoping to hear back from you mainly on the meeting up to fish part and where your fishing at part. Haha
this cold illinois wether sucks because i cant fish where there is 5 to 6 inches of ice on every pond i know of my parents dont trust the ice thats one reason why i cant fish but i did pick up some really cool mini crank baits cant wait to use them
Love it buddy. Love the video. I'm up in NC and it's been so similarly cold here…the lake I live on is actually frozen over too which I've never seen in the 3 years of living here.
Idea for a new video – how about dart board fishing lure……..list all the lures you have, go blind folded, and throw a dart 2-3 times….challenge yourself to catch a fish on those lures despite whatever conditions exist 🙂 Or just mix em up and spread em across a table, blindfold yourself and the first 2-3 that you touch are what you gotta use 🙂
I was looking forward to this vid after the storm hit the east coast. Here in RI we are fishing the "hard water" iced over…with the deep freeze we have safe ice early this year. Come catch a bass thru the ice lol. We are! What was the water temp change in the past week that always seems to help to see if they moved on?

Will try it out in Oklahoma. Heard our large mouth bass are from Florida.
