Hi Jerry back in business got new Tablet .The surgeons loop is very handy useful loop to learn .We use them mainly in the UK for simple pat rigs with hooks bait & sinker with grip wires for static presentation or without wire to roll search around for bass in the surf .I think some sea anglers in parts of the UK are now trying the fly with flies similar to your teasers for bass .I’m going to see about trying Your teaser method with a lighter bass rod in the spring/ summer + a Toby or other tin lure as a vessel for bass.Tight lines Gary (UK ) .
With small fish like pacific/atlantic mackerel, sardines and herring, you can put your thumb in their mouths (they won't bite) and snap their necks back until you hear a sound showing that (search up how to do it on youtube under "the humane slaughter of mackerel"). Watch how to do it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCzyAWmVPk8 . Most scientists now show that fish do feel pain. Using this method makes the fish taste better.
Good stuff, Jerry. One problem I have with dropper loops is that sometimes I can't get the doubled line through the teaser hook eye. Most of the time I am using 20-30 lb fluoro leader. I can't imagine that a bent-over piece of 60-80lb mono would thread into a hook easily. Do you have any tips for that? Thanks.
Thanks for this!! I always struggle with tying the dropper loop especially with fluro. This is so much easier and can control the length of the loop very accurately. When bucktailing for fluke, I like longer loops in high current and shorter on slack tide.
Hey Jerry hope all is well another great video. I like the surgeons loop i may try it out next season. If i have extra leaders made up i may even cut the loop and tie direct like you showed. Let us know if you are going to do another live chat maybe i'll chime in. Take care
Pretty cool video. Ill have to try that knot. I have tried a similar knot, basically the same as yours but i only put it through once not three times. I had lines snap right at that knot though so now i do dropper loops different but yours is easier. It may be the cheapo chinese mono that i have. anyways thanks as always tight lines

Hey Jerry, nice tip! Especially when you are at the coast with cold fingers, this loop works. Your teasers catch like hell. Who is making them?
