Hi Tim, nice presentation. I like the techniques on the wire and taper. What's up with soft wire vs any other wire? Besides being an attractor pattern I have no idea what it imitates, perhaps the sillouette of a baetis but I have no knowledge of that speices habitat. The fact that you fish it in faster water makes sense with the patterns attributes. It's sleek and heavy, tied in the round, no moving parts to speak of. If the fish blinks they miss it. I don't know much about competitive trouters other than their methods and popularity of the flies, they work for them. They get down fast, which I imagine is paramount in a competition.
As much as I like big & buggy, I think I'll have to try tying smaller (as we've discussed before) and this sleek flashy style.
