  1. This is one of the best videos ever for the novice catman. I use this on all my rigs now. Do you address how to snell in-line circles (e.g., Team Catfish) as opposed to octopus circles in one of your videos?

  2. Luke we are getting ready to do some catfishing. I have 25lb mono to snell with. I'm doing what you do in the video but my line is not staying tight. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or if there is another knot I need to use instead?

  3. There is an easy way to screw it up. I did it. Lol i fed the line through the back of the hook to start and finished by pulling the rest through the front. The hook sat at a weird angle and kept popping out of the fish's mouth. I retied the hook starting through the front and the hook set everytime after that. ?

  4. Hey man, I tried your knot. I will say that it performs exceptionally when pulled on by a fish or kept tight. I caught a 23lb cat on it no problem.

However, at the end of the night I found that all three of my hooks had loosened and come off as if the line had gone slack and the tag end had slipped out from under the wrappings. Each one had the tell tale curliness left that indicated my wrappings had come loose and the hook had simply slid off.

It wasn't as if I was snagged and broke them off. I was done for the night and was reeling in my baits normally. All three hooks were gone. Nothing bit them off either because it would have sounded my baitclicker.

I do like your method of cow hitching the leader to the swivel though. That is just plain genius. I use a perfection loop for that.

  5. I tried this knot and the part where you wrapped the line around the hook 7 times loosened up and eventually came loose. I bet I did something wrong but great video man

  6. I'm only 15 and started bass fishing since I was nine years of age now I'm starting to drift to cat fishing I looked all over YouTube on how to snell a hook and this has been the simplest one ? I'll watch more of your tips and tricks videos I believe I'll find them very useful and informative

  7. That is not the correct way to snell a fishing hook.. A channel called Pee Cee has a video showing the correct way to tie this knot. The correct knot has a loop and is pulled tight from both ends and can not be loosened by simply pushing back on the leader.
