There was an old saying about lake ice and it goes like this . If you here ice cracking stay off the ice . My grandfather told me this 50 years ago . He also said that ice is a little funny in the wat it makes the sound that determand the thickness of the ice . The higher pitch the sound it the thinner the ice is . The lower the pitch is the thicker the ice is . He also said you can test the ice with a one pound rock just buy throwing it on the ice . No here the ice is not safe at all . It is only 4 inches .
