Believe it or not a bubblegum colored sluggo!!! Small nail weight in the tail on 15-20# Braid to 8# Fluoro with a 4/0 offset shank worm hook on spinning tackle. Try it man it works.
It's early May now in Michigan & time to catch early spawners & nest makers. I like to fish shallow & with a light colored bait like a white craw on a swivel head so I can see the bass strike the bait & eat it. If they're semi shallow I choose squarebill crankbaits around cover or even drag the structure. Great pro tips anyone can use!!
Always enjoy the videos. Really appreciate that BR has kept it informative and not gone the way of other channels, as entertainment. Cant watch those anymore. Keep up the great videos!
Patience & distance. Give yourself some distance from the fish when sight fishing so you don’t spook them. Be patient and let your lure sit with small subtle movements.
Another great video Glen. Leaving the Senko alone and not moving it is something I never thought about. I’m always twitching it but I’ll let it sit now.
Maybe someone could answer this question…..I live in Northern Illinois where it has been the slowest spring in recent memory. We hovered in the upper 30's and lower 40's for the last month and we are now about a month behind on the spawn. Fast forward to yesterday and we have an 86 degree day, followed by another 80 plus degree day today. The pond close to my house that is predictable to say the least has been a dead zone. I figured they were just waiting for the water to warm up to move up by all of the traditional bedding areas. After two days, nothing not a single fish anywhere to be found. I know they're in there, last week when it was still cold I destroyed them on a Shad Rap and pulled out three fish over 4lbs. What gives? Where are they?
With the opening season around the corner in MN, I will try some of these suggestions especially the use of top water lures. Excellent thoughts on flipping too.
Covering lots of water is a must, using wacky worms, dropshots, and texas rigs were mentioned more than once. The different sunglasses was one that caught me offguard
Caught 30+ bass on Texas rigged senko(6/hour) but had no luck with topwater baits. Awesome video.

I have not had much success with wacky rig, but I may give it another try.
Nice tips i though that topwater did not work well during spawn, also i never though of having different tips of shades, thats a great tip.
Great video again! The drop shot is something I need to add during the spawn.
Dang!
Thanks for the tips! First wave of the spawn only just started this week here in NJ so will definitely be trying out some of the methods talked about.
Great video. Good info….especially from Hack

Looking forward to trying some of these ideas just as soon as the spawn starts here in north central Illinois.
Turn them big mama's loose gently, everybody has a mama?
Great video. Thank you. I never would have thought to try a giant swim bait!!
I don't like fishing for spawners because I've caught some really old beat up fish. I don't think some of them lived after I let them go.
