Just so you know for next time, trout spook REALLY easily. For example, some fisherman use fly for trout so the can keep their distance and they make sure to be silent and keep their shadow off the fish. Also with your hookset, don’t set the hook like it’s a bass. They have very soft mouths and you could rip the lure right out. The best thing is a light tug straight up.

Try neoprene gloves…with just the thumb and index fingertips cut off, works well.
They are called creek chub. I cot a lot of them they use the creek chub for muskie fishing or muskie speering.

try carrying a small hand towel or golf towel. Dry your hands off and keep dry hands will stay warmer
